The "Bruce" Project

Jeremiah 19-21:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:4-28; Psalm 82:1-8; Proverbs 25:9-10 (click to read)

(1 Thessalonians 5) 23 I pray that God, who gives peace, will make you completely holy. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept healthy and faultless until our Lord Jesus Christ returns. 24 The one who chose you can be trusted, and he will do this.

I certainly need for Jesus to do to me what this verse says. On my own, I am not able to be either completely holy or faultless. Indeed, I often feel "fault-full", especially when looking at the call to be completely devoted to Christ. My devotions can be torn away to other priorities, my actions don't always have the most holy intentions or motives. I need for His Spirit to continually grow me, guide me, grace me so I can gain ground to this level. The promise at the end of this section (like the one in Philippians) is so important to me. I'm not sure what the "finish line" looks like, but as long as God's Spirit knows what God wants to do to, with, and through me, then I'm good with that. I want to trust Him each day that God is still on the "Bruce" project, and He is on schedule.

Lord Jesus - I am so very grateful that You and Your Spirit are the responsible Ones to get me to the state of holiness and devotion needed. I know I must to my part to surrender, submit, be open to guidance and correction, but I thank You from my complete heart that You can be trusted to both do and finish the work in me.
