My Spirit Jumped
Jeremiah 22-23:20; 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12; Psalm 83:1-18; Proverbs 25:11-14 (click to read)
(Jeremiah 23) 7 A time will come when you will again worship me. But you will no longer call me the Living God who rescued Israel from Egypt. 8 Instead, you will call me the Living God who rescued you...
(WOW - the Proverbs verses are SO good - but I have to go with this one above.) Really, the instant I read these verses, my spirit jumped for joy. It is this great personal experience of God, of Jesus and His Spirit rescuing ME that is the my bedrock experience. Sure, there are great stories in the Bible and more wonderful stories from fellow believers. But my devotion and faith really take a leap up because of His Action in my life. I think, perhaps, a person who has no such thought would find if very difficult to be devoted and hopeful in their faith. And - from my perspective - anyone who has no such memory of God's action in their lives likely does not now themselves well enough to be aware of all their weaknesses, failures, fizzled efforts, and times they simply ignored God. I do know some of mine, and I know He has rescued me over and over. Thank you Lord, so much.
Lord - My prayer is fully of gratitude and my devotion comes from this knowledge and experience. I am hopeful because You are with me, and because You can rescue me and because You do guide me. You are not the Savior of Israel, or my family or my friends - You are My Savior.
