Being a Creative Helper

For Tuesday, January 3

Being a Creative Helper

Mark 2 (click to read)

Jesus was still teaching 3 when four people came up, carrying a crippled man on a mat. 4 But because of the crowd, they could not get him to Jesus. So they made a hole in the roof above him and let the man down in front of everyone.

This passage challenges me to reflect on how much do I really express God's love for others. And a follow up is - do I have this kind of faith in Christ to go way out of my way and do whatever it takes to help someone discover the healing, forgiveness and life Jesus wants them to have. This whole chapter is full of challenges for the believer regarding who I think belongs in faith fellowship with me, how do my practices block others from looking for Jesus, how do I remain on the front edge of God's love for others. But the simple point for the day is this: Am I regularly willing to go out of my way, spend time and give energy, to risk being rejected or feeling foolish, to believe for another person - am I willing to go out of my way so another can know Christ's love. I mean, really, even the Pharisees did that much! I must regularly be willing to do more.

Jesus, break me out of my habits and patterns so I can be a carrier of Your Love and Grace to another. Open my mind and heart to creatively use time and effort to express Your Desire for each person. I want to carry someone to You.
